how to fix dry hairOur summer fun includes swimming pools and beaches, extreme heat and dry weather, chlorine and salt and if you have not taken enough steps to protect your hair during summer, like using a UV Blocking product, then when all the excitement is gone you are probably left with dry, brittle, dull hair. For those with light colored hair like blondes and redheads, the hair may have turned brassy, losing that original hue that made it vibrant and shiny before summer. Unfortunately, hair will not repair itself, and we have to somehow begin repairing the damage by returning the nutrients back into our hair.

One way to repair dry, brittle hair is to use an intense hydrating mask on a weekly basis like Moroccan Oil Mask.  First you shampoo your hair preferably using a hydrating shampoo like Aveeno Nourish and Moisturize shampoo. Squeeze some of the water out and apply the mask. You will need to use a hair dryer set on medium heat in order to help it penetrate the hair shaft, and once you feel that your hair is warm, leave the mask on for another 10 minutes. The process does not take very long, and you will be left with wonderful, healthy looking hair all over again.  Continue using your hydrating shampoo and conditioner.

To bring back the original color and shine to your hair what’s recommended is consulting your hair stylist about either a gloss or glaze treatment or a full color all over again. However, once the color has been repaired there is more that you must do in order to continue preserving your color by using color protecting shampoos and conditioners such as Pureology Hydrate Shampoo and Conditioner, $22.95 each.

Of course it’s always good to include a coconut oil treatment, at least once a month, in order to keep your hair hydrated, sleek and shiny looking.
